During the summer months, Montreal is host to numerous festivals, such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Just for Laughs Festival, which both feature free and premium events. The best way to learn more about those events is to visit their websites: Jazz Festival and Just for Laughs Festival. Le Dauphin's prime location places you very close to these festivals' venues.

If you'd like to attend Canadiens' hockey games or large shows, the Bell Centre (map) is close-by and the best way to get there is on foot, as you'll only have to walk about 15 minutes. First consult this map to get there; turn right on Bleury street as you exit the hotel, walk for a few seconds to La Gauchetiere street, and then turn left on La Gauchetiere. Keep walking west until you reach the Bell Centre; you will pass by Place Bonaventure and the train station. The name of La Gauchetiere street will change to Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montreal when you cross Peel street. Keep walking until you reach 1909 Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montreal. The Bell Centre will be to your left. Click on this link to buy hockey tickets, or on this link to buy tickets to other events held at the Bell Centre.

The Montreal Alouettes play at the Percival-Molson Stadium (map). Molson Stadium is located at the base of Mont-Royal, and the entrance is located on des Pins avenue near University street (map). A good way to get there is by walking, which will make you visit downtown Montreal, but there is a free shuttle from Square-Victoria (Click on this link to get more information on how to get there. Visit the Alouettes' official website to buy tickets.

There are many theaters in and around Downtown Montreal. Place-des-Arts (map) is a huge complex that is host to many theatre companies. Other theaters include the Theatre du Nouveau-Monde (map) and the Centaur Theatre (map). The Centaur Theatre features english-language plays. Click on this link to browse a list of Montreal's theaters.

If you feel lucky, you can visit the Montreal Casino (map), which is located on Notre-Dame Island and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are numerous restaurants at the Casino. One of the ways of getting to the Casino is public transportation, as a bus that serves the Casino can be taken at the Jean-Drapeau Metro (subway) station (map). You can take the Metro to the Jean-Drapeau station (yellow line), then from there shuttle (bus) 777 to the Casino (map). Please note that Montreal's subway system does not operate at night and may not be available as a transportation option if you want to visit the Casino late at night or early in the morning. Alternatively, you can drive to the Casino (map) or hire a taxi to get there. As the Casino is not located near Montreal's downtown core, hiring a cab to get there is fairly expensive as it is a relatively long ride. The casino has a dress code and is open to adult players only (18 years of age and over).

There are many ways to be entertained in Montreal, and we're sure that you'll find many other fun venues. If you discover something especially interesting, let us know so that we can add it to our Virtual Concierge.
